| FELiRe
(Fundación Editorial de Literatura Reformada) is
a Christian organization supported by various reformed churches
in The Netherlands, and in particular by the Netherlands
Reformed Church in the town of Rijswijk.
In cooperation with Christian brethren in Barcelona
(Spain) this organization has dedicated its efforts, from
its origins, to the spreading of the Holy Scriptures and
the publication of instructive Christian literature which
presents the doctrinal and ethical principles of the word
of God, from a reformed perspective
FELiRe’s calling is to serve God’s people through
the spreading of good quality Christian literature. In
this way we want to help as many people as we can to acquire
a knowledge of biblical truth, not only as a longing for
salvation in the future but as a manifestation of the
wisdom of God for this life and this time. To this effect,
FELiRe offers its publications, as a donation, to the
various members and organizations in Christian churches.
In view of the diversity of needs and ministries, our
service can be summed up in three areas.
WHO IS FELIRE WORKING
FOR?
Pastors and professors
For this group with special needs we offer a special selection
of our titles, including some of the major works. In this
case we bear in mind the kind of ministry this group has
to perform. Our package will include, whenever it may
be possible, important works in the field of reformed
theology and commentaries, as well as treatises on present
day problems.
Theological students and
Sunday School teachers
To this group we provide important doctrinal works as
well as certain commentaries which can help in the development
of their studies and in preparation for classes to young
people.
Church members in general
We are willing to provide many of our good books and booklets
to those believers who request our help. We wish to help
them in their spiritual growth as well as provide some
guidance on present day ethical problems.

Providentially,
in the year 1953, a Dutch Christian businessman visited
Spain. At that time there were severe restrictions for
protestant churches. The political regime of General Franco
and his catholic allies, had imposed many barriers for
the development of God’s work. The Bible Society had been
closed down, like many other protestant organizations
and churches, and the stock of Bibles had been confiscated.
Impressed by this situation, the Dutch businessman and
his church in The Netherlands organised the supply of
Bibles to Spanish protestant churches, by various means.
Thus, a campaign of intensive support to Spanish churches
started, and the effects of the regime’s restrictions
were greatly overruled.
The next step was taken when Spanish
believers started to write to the organising Dutch church,
making enquiries about various doctrinal subjects. This
led to the publishing of a series of booklets, among
them The Heidelberg Catechism, and of important works
such as the full edition of Calvin’s Institutes (an
updated revision of the old translation by Cipriano
de Valera in 1597). Soon, the contacts spread to Latin-America,
and since then FELiRe has supplied books and Bibles
to thousands of Pastors, theological students, elders
and other servants of God. Today FELiRe is pleased to
make known via Internet and other means, its willingness
to cooperate with Spanish speaking churches, as far
as our modest means permit, in order to supply good
instructive materials for the up building of the Lord’s
church. It will be a privilege and a pleasure to do
so.
